WHAT IS bps?
bps means bits per second — the base unit used to describe digital data transfer rate.
REFERENCE
BITS PER SECOND
bps stands for bits per second. A bit is the smallest common unit of digital information. A 100 Mbps connection represents a theoretical rate of 100 million bits each second.

1 Mbps1,000,000 bps
1 Gbps1,000,000,000 bps
BITS ≠ BYTES
Network speeds normally use lowercase b for bits. File transfer rates often use uppercase B for bytes. One byte is eight bits, so 100 Mbps has a theoretical ceiling of 12.5 MB/s.
