How 0bps writes, reviews and maintains technical explanations, examples and tool guidance.
TOOLS AND EXPLANATIONS SHOULD AGREE.
0bps treats the text around a tool as part of the product. Definitions, formulas, examples and limitations are written to help a reader understand the output rather than to create pages around search terms. When a tool uses a deterministic formula, the explanation should describe that formula and its assumptions. When a result comes from a measurement, the explanation should identify the measurement path and important limits.
MEASUREMENT VS CALCULATION
We distinguish observed measurements from calculated values. Throughput and HTTP latency tests depend on the current network path and test infrastructure. Unit conversion, transfer-time arithmetic and IP-prefix operations are deterministic for the supplied inputs. Interpretive scores or troubleshooting suggestions are identified as models or guidance rather than presented as direct observations.
TECHNICAL BOUNDARIES
Browser capabilities have limits. 0bps does not manufacture unsupported signals to make a tool appear more complete. For example, HTTP timing is not relabeled as native ICMP ping, and symptoms such as jitter are not presented as proof of packet loss. If browser or platform support affects a media result, that limitation belongs beside the result.
EXAMPLES AND PRACTICAL RANGES
Examples are illustrative, not guarantees. Real transfers can be affected by protocol overhead, storage, congestion, Wi-Fi conditions and remote service capacity. Practical ranges in guidance are context aids rather than universal pass/fail standards; an application's own requirements remain the better reference when available.
CORRECTIONS AND MAINTENANCE
Technical content should be revised when a formula, browser capability, measurement dependency or product behavior changes. If you find a reproducible error, an unclear limitation or a mismatch between a tool and its explanation, use the contact page and include the affected URL, expected behavior and enough detail to reproduce the issue.
Do not hide uncertainty. A smaller, accurately described capability is more useful than a larger claim the browser cannot verify.
ADVERTISING DOES NOT SET THE ANSWER
Advertising and monetization are kept separate from technical conclusions. An advertiser does not receive a better score, preferred measurement result, favorable formula or editorial claim because it pays for placement. Sponsored claims are not inserted into reference explanations as if they were independent technical findings.
